No for vpn for playing in the game but yes for a Browser..
You can add a extention in google chrome to use a vpn but it will only affect the browser not the game.
But if you use a VPN for internet...
You can use Opera it have a VPN option in the settings but not sure if it will help... Opera is a Web Browser.
One thing you can try is to go in internet explorer and make a big full reset of the setting etc.. to see if it fix the problem
